About this blog

I will be creating my virtual life journey after the Wing Walkers here.  The whole journey will be flown or driven using X-plane 11, American Truck Simulator and Derail Valley.  It will be fully done in VR and each leg will be shared here with visual shots from the journey...  The screenshots may not be of the highest quality due to VR RESTRICTIONS but the stories will be there to enhance the journey.

Many aircraft and vehicles will be used, all historically accurate in accurate settings with historic skins, the crux of the story will be on true Canadian stories of aviation from 1943 and beyond, with particular appearances of one bird in its existence through our history.  Some stories will be in actual first person accounts from history.

Stay tuned, the journey begins shortly!

Chapter 3 The Med

The trip... Well after the trip to Istanbul, I  was itching to get moving.  Zeus had blessed every tree in 20 miles and we were just waiting for some form of transport to our next destination.  An RCAF supply flight was found to be lacking a pilot due to the regular pilot indulging a little too much from the local "delicacies".  Expecting to be  confronted with an old clapped out freight  aircraft, I was presently surpised to see a C-47 awaiting my subtle touch as pilot.  Zeus happily

Chapter 6 Boredom at the BCATP

After arriving at the BCATP in Portage, I found out why they needed me to drive the heavy crane there, seems like a student had decided to use the officer's mess as his landing spot and short of burning the whole thing to the ground it required some heavy lifting.  Now I had been to Portage, Manitoba before and it was just farmer's fields everywhere so my expectations were pretty low for a few old aircraft to train with and a farmer's field to land in with the requisite cow pies.  Imagine my sur

Chapter4 -The Atlantic

It was time to move on from Gibraltar. No long range aircraft being available and being unwilling to fly across Germany to  get to Britain, the sea route was the only thing left.  A small convoy was leaving and Zeus and I hitched a ride on the HMCS Sackville, a flower class corvette.    Being slightly larger than a coastal fishing boat and housing 85 men along with supplies and weapons, it was a cramped affair.  Once we reached the rolling Atlantic it became a wet cramped environment.

Chapter 2

Sevastapol to Istanbul Woke up this morning to overcast skies, Zeus ran to plane and refused to come out as it had just started raining (you can see his pathetic little face pressed up against the glass in the second to last row.  Takeoff was alright though with only one runway a little skittish as the wind was about 45 degrees from the nose.  Got to  6000 feet and broke through the clouds to glorious sunshine, Zeus then remembered he had to pee, cross your legs bud we still have two hours

Chapter 1

Chapter 1  The beginning.. After my reassignment from the Russian front back to the British Commonwealth  Air Training Program in Brandon, Manitoba, I had to get there.  The RCAF would only provide transportation from  Gibraltar, I had to get there on my own.  As the Turkish airlines had a JU-52 at their disposal but no pilots to fly it, this seemed like a good way to at least get to Istanbul.  The flight was exhausting, 3 1/2 hours over the ocean to Sevastopol was the first leg  in cloudy

Chapter 5 - Back Home

After landing in Halifax, Zeus was off to Dartmouth in order to take up his position as Gunnery instructor and I was off to find transport to Ottawa to check in.  While in Halifax I noticed the crude being unloaded into fuel cars, all nice bright and shiny Blue tank cars!  Would never work in a war zone, it brought home to me how distant I was from the actual fighting, but men (and women) were in uniform everywhere.  The poor little Plymouth T95 was really struggling to get these cars shunt
