  2. I think every flight simmers precious computer and peripherals should have one of these ( I have three of them). Protects you from those nasty power surges, brownouts and blackouts. Gives you enough time to power down in brownout and power outage conditions. Prices vary according to runtime required. On my game computers I get about 6 min of runtime when the power goes completely out using the 1500 VA (900watt) Cyber Powers. Cyber power now has an insane $500,000 connected equipment guarantee! That should about cover a new computer and accessories, right? It's money well spent. The first one of these I bought years ago from Powercom (1000watt) came with a $15,000 insurance policy if a power surge ever damaged anything plugged into it! I'm keeping this baby and the registered insurance policy is kept with all my valuable paperwork. You have to replace the batteries every 2 to 5 years at about $40.00 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0ZX2C28811&cm_re=cyber_power_1500-_-42-102-134-_-Product
  3. I've said goodbye to the old and no longer supported DCS ver 1.2. Using the autoupdater in ver 1.2 brings the game up to the latest release version which is ver 1.5.2. Looks good so far, a little buggy still, but there's no going back now! I've also got the server updated to DCS ver 1.5.2 and my missions converted, so we'll start up the regular Wednesday and Friday 6:00pm sessions again starting on Friday Jan 1st at 6:00pm pacific. Each DCS World multiplayer client will need to download this file: http://bhah.homeip.net:192/Winston/autoexec.cfg and place it into your C:\Users\(your name here)\Saved Games\DCS\Config folder. This file will allow your game to use additional bandwidth in multiplayer. I also have some nice reflective F-86 Sabre skins for ver 1.5 here: http://bhah.homeip.net:192/Winston/Sabre_skins_DCS_1.5.rar They go in the Eagle Dynamics/DCS World/Bazar/Liveries/F-86F Sabre folder. If you don't have the folder just create it. Before copying the skin folders into your game first delete any old skins you may have previously installed for the Sabre. Here's 3 nice P-51 skind to go along with ver 1.5: http://bhah.homeip.net:192/Winston/Mustang_skins_DCS1.5.rar These can be put in with all the existing P-51D skins, no need to delete any of the old ones. Users can now decide if they want to fly with aircraft, vehicle and/or missile labels on or off as setting the new larger object visibility option makes everything, especially ground vehicles, much easier to see now. I hope to see you pilots again in the new improved looking but still dangerous skies of DCS World ver 1.5.
  4. Merry Christmas 2015 to all Wing Walkers May Santa bring you all lots of new flight sim goodies
  5. That's interesting stuff Plague. In a computer the CPU is always much, much faster than the RAM. Your CPU idles when it cannot talk to the memory, thus a larger bandwidth between CPU and RAM would seem to be desirable to keep the CPU working as much as possible. Dual-channel mode doubles the bandwidth between the CPU and the memory making increased performance "theoretically" better. Triple-channel mode triples the bandwidth, and the new Quad-channel architecture of intel's socket 2011-3 quadruples the bandwidth. While the limited testing done by these people shows a small improvement or degradation in those few games in dual channel mode, and seeing that it changes from game to game, would it be wise to purposely introduce a bottleneck into your system by dismissing multi-channel modes which, over the years or with other games or applications, may give different test results? I use triple-channel mode now in my aging Gigabyte X58 system with a first gen I7 Extreme CPU. When I bought my Corsair Vengeance memory sticks I never thought of getting 1 stick instead of 3, (would have saved me $13) but the idea of triple the CPU to memory bandwidth sounded good to me.
  6. Good info Plague. So many Win 10 users are in denial about Microsoft's new info gathering and telemetry. Looks like a good program to have if you are concerned with your own privacy.
