The Rules

It is the responsibility of every player to review, understand and comply with all of the following rules.
The Golden Rule

There is only one simple over-riding rule: "Don't be a jerk..." In other words, when you contemplate the legality of any action try to ask yourself "could I piss someone off if I did this?" If there is even a remote possibility that the answer is yes, don't do it.

Most rules are enforced automatically by the daemon or the parser and are listed below.

* Pilot Rules
o Briefing Restriction
o Leaving the Server
o Callsigns

* Server Rules
o Dead is Dead
o Bail Delay
o Rearm Delay
o V-Lives
o Limited slots
o Aircraft Availability

* Miscellanea
o No Peeking!

Pilot Rules

Briefing Restriction

You should never join the opposing team in-game - i.e. do not click on an enemy airbase on the loading screen - as this will make you privy to whatever briefing they have available.

Be forewarned that the daemon will log such an infraction and possibly kick if not ban you permanently from the server. Moral: take great care when selecting your spawn point.

Leaving the Server

You may leave the server at any time and most times that will not be a problem. However, to avoid messing up your stats it's advisable that you leave only after a terminal event has happened, e.g. your plane crashed, your pilot died or was captured or, preferably, you managed to land safely.

Callsigns

Your in-game name must accurately match the name you used to register for the tournament. Any deviation will prevent the daemon from recognizing you and you will be autokicked every time you attempt to join.
Server Rules

Dead is Dead

If you die or get captured in a mission you are out for the duration of that mission. However, spawn deaths do not count.

Note though that you are not kicked from a mission when you die, and can stay on the server - you will only be kicked if you attempt to refly. Unfortunately, this will use up one of your side's available slots and may prevent another player from flying. So by deferring to the golden rule, it's probably a good idea to leave the server after you die.

Bail Delay

If you bail from your plane or crash land it then you must wait 15 minutes to simulate the drive back to base. As with the DiD rule, you are not kicked from the server unless you attempt to get airborne before your time-out expires. You can check how much time-out you have remaining by entering "
Rearm Delay

From your second sortie onwards, you must wait at least 5 minutes on the tarmac before taking off. This encourages airfield attacks and CAPs and simulates the refueling/rearming period. Note that every time you hit "refly" the counter is reset, so you cannot wait out the re-arm delay at the arming screen.

Your virtual life is in no danger during this period though since, like a spawn death, you will not incur a death penalty if you are shot-down while on the ground. Your side will lose a v-life and an aircraft though if you are strafed on the deck.

V-Lives

Each side has a limited number of virtual pilot lives per mission. Every player joining "takes" a V-life. If he does not land, the V-life is not returned to the pool. i.e., the total decreases every time a player meets a catastrophic event. Once a side exhausts it's V-lives that's it - no more players from that side may join the server even if there are still slots available.

It should be pointed out however that to exhaust your V-lives you'd probably have to actively try to do so. (they are usually set to 1.5 times the total slots available)

One way to think of it is the maximum allowable number of virtual deaths that can occur in a mission before a team can no longer fly the mission.

You can find out how many V-lives are left for your team on the server at any time by entering "
Limited slots

Each side in a mission has a limited number of slots. (usually set to 20 or more per side) If you attempt to join a mission in progress where your side has already reached the slot limit you will not be able to.

You can find out the remaining number of slots available to your side by typing "
Aircraft Availability

DCG sets out the number and type of planes available to each side at the start of every mission. If you exceed the designated number of planes you will get a warning at the time you hit fly and, if you do not change your selection, will be kicked if you attempt to get airborne. Use "Miscellanea

No Peeking!

The event log and mission files are archived for each mission. Some admins will have access to said files for debugging purposes.

It is strictly prohibited to view or run a mission file for any purpose other than to verify a DCG, daemon or parser bug.
