FLYBOYS

Recommended Posts

Heya Fellas,

I saw a post here on the forums a long time back about an "up-and-coming" movie called FLYBOYS.

Looks like it releases in 11 days as I just saw a comercial on T.V. about it. Says it hits theaters Sept 22nd.

...heh, it also looks like they are actually trying to create a gamebased on the movie! =/

I hope the movie isnt as arcade as I expect the game to be!

S!

I've seen those TV ads too Brian, and I'm stoked to se this movie. I hadn't heard about the game however.

This line got my attention :

  • One full month of FREE Massively Multiplayer online play

Kinda blows my interest in the game out of the water.

Yeah, I just downloaded the demo and see there are 4 countries: Red Green Purple and some-such...

Like Sandy says, no offence...

But I suspect it will be just like Warbirds Good in it's own right I suppose, but not what *I* was personally looking for in the next WW1 sim.

*walks off grumbling*

Looks like I may be stuck in these new-fangled metal aircraft along with the ones that make alot of screeching noice out the back!"

*yearns for his dope and fabric prop-job*

S!

Hey guys!

I just saw this commercial for FLYBOYS and had to get on the computer to tell you ....... Oh, you are way ahead of me again. Well the movie looks cool - probably less than a month (or two) of flying subscription - to have the family see the movie.

I'll catch it this weekend, maybe Saturday. I just hope the ads aren't showing all the flying sequences.

I'm actually more interested in the DVD release with -hopefully- a behind the scenes look at how the movie was made. Lots of models and computer generated graphics for sure!

I'm planning on catching this one as well.

But...

Did you notice in the trailers, EVERY Dr.I is painted BVR red? I'm guessing this flick is not going to be very close to historic reference, but rather a glorification of testoterone-induced, hi-octain, daring-do, set in WWI.

Regardless, I'm fully expecting to thouroughly enjoy the action.

The director talked about that. he lknows he is going to be lambasted by the historians over it. His response was understandable. They only had something like 2 DrI's to work with and couldn't afford to repaint them for every scene and the CGI cost would have been astronomical. Also, when they did test shoots audiences couldn't tell the good guys from the bad in dogfights. So, he decided to go with the one triplane every Snoopy fan has heard of--the Red Baron.

I can live with a-historical painted aircraft as long as there is lots of canvas-on-canvas air action and they don't muck up the fightin' with a Pearl Harbor love story...

There will be both "mucking", and flying. Sadley, pictures dont get made just for the fight sim or history fans, gotta have some character development, ala "mucking" around, offbase.

It's PG13, so most of the stick handing will be in the cockpit of a plane.

Ya mean I gotta watch the mushy stuff and don't even get to see a pair of tits? If there is gonna be some 'romance' then at least there could be some nekkidness...

At least something sordid as in The Blue Max... you know, consentual sex as a psychological / political weapon... with boobs and a quick-hint of carpeting... and none of this new-age burber-in-the-foir stuff, either -- I'm talking 1917, wall-to-wall, persian rugs! /applications/core/interface/imageproxy/imageproxy.php?img=%7BSMILIES_PATH%7D/icon_twisted.gif&key=76870aa9df6931b692ccc9ef4c7472a7834d1d9dfc6a76eccadd1fa39c0df891">

Doing some more skins? In comparison to doing all the modelling and animation work, rendering time/cost, post production etc? I am not convinced.

I'd be very interested in a movie critic if some of you have seen it already. No spoilers, please, just a thumbs up or down opinion.

Salute All!!!!!

Seen it: thoroughly impressed, makes me want to jump back into the canvas cockpit: if the puter would let me.

Tried the Flyboys Game, it's ok. Graphics were good, smooth. But, it at least works on this puter. (Really thinking of getting an old puter just to fly again)

S! Fuchs.

Well, from experience I can tell you that if Fuchs does a "buzz the tower" manouver, he's usually on the ground just a few moments later...

Good to see you're still around, Fuchs!
