II./JG1_Krupinski
Ummmm WOW?!?!?!?!?!Pretty neat, but my limited capabilities wonder about the logistical practicality. Every loading requires a flat bed semi and a 15 ton crane. get that under a B-2. Considering it took me 5 hours to get a 1500 lb wood planer 2 miles into my garage, it could be months planning and preparation, just to load one on a plane. Can't wait to see a demonstration video. -Raven
WWTaco
umm, 15 ton crane??? try a 40 or 60 ton. 15 ton cranes only lift 15 tons in certain situation. Got to calculate where the fulcrum is and get your center of gravity calculated,it depends on the lift height, center of placement from crane kingpin, weight of object. A 40 ton crane will only set 9000 pounds, 50 feet in the air, 45 feet from kingpin to where you want to set it. it would only do 40 tons 1 foot off the kingpin and only a foot in the air with no ability to swing it without tipping it over.It will not be that hard. I lift bigger stuff everyday with 120 ton cranes in mere minutes. Wide open airbase w/ big flat concrete spaces , a conveyor or a depressed trench to load them up hydraulically from underneath would take an hour at the most.S!Taco

WWSandMan
http://www.bitsofnews.com/content/view/5880/ That's a big firecracker.~~~On the bit with cranes... Yeah, just because what you're lifting weighs -for example- 15 tons, doesn't mean that you need a device with a 15 ton capacity to move it. Over the years I've seen a lot of folks make that mistake when ordering cranes to offload stuff from the deck of my trailer. It didn't take me long to start fudging on the weights when calling customers to set up deliveries. Always better to have too much equipment than not enough. WWTaco
Don't even get me started with trucking companies... TOO LATEOkay Sandy Riddle me this...You ask for 48 hours notice, you get none. You tell them receiving hours are 7 to 12 and 1 to 4 but hey always show up at 12:01 demanding it get dropped or they are leaving! Why do they load box trucks / Vans in such a fashion you can never get the forks under the equipment or if you do the forks only reach half way so there is no way of lifting it?You already answered my question on why does my submittal say 1000 pounds but the shipping ticket says 5000 pounds. Why does every OTR driver have a personality of a tree stump? And finally, FOB, PPA, FOB Origin, FOB Destination, FFA Holy Crap. !! You got to be a lawyer to know when who takes receipt of what!! S!Hijack off..
II./JG1_Krupinski
Considering it took me 5 hours to get a 1500 lb wood planer 2 miles into my garage, .........-Raven Hijack alert!!!What kind of planer, Raven? A CKM M314 3 sided 14 inch planer / moulder. Has 4 motors ranging from the 7.5 hp top head, 2x 5 hp side cuters and 1hp feed motor. It'll S3S 2000 BF in an hour. Went to an auction @ local mill for some nice quarter sawn white oak, and came home with this too ($200). I just sold it to a guy in VA last night on eBay after 2 weeks for $2G. This was a serious case of biting off more than I could chew. I got home from the auction and had to tell the boss. She wasn't happy at all. Finally had to make a deal with her. We put it up for sale, if we don't sell it by the time 220v service is installed in the garage, we keep it.I think with the proceeds I will pick up a decent table saw and a normal planer. The table saw I have is a piece of crap and I am ashamed to admit what it is - so don't ask. ;)On a side side note, the wood I got is really nice. 150 BF of QSWO for $100 and about 50 BF walnut thrown in too. I would have bid on 400 BF cherry too, that ended up going for $100 - but I was preoccupied with the thought of me telling the boss about the planer.-Best regards,Raven
