IL2 Visual Mod

Recommended Posts

Some YEARS back when we were flying in a european 'war' requiring extensive navigation, TACCO put me on to a mod that radically changed the visual presentation from blurred to crystal clear. Grass air fields that I couldn't see suddenly appeared after I put this line in the config.ini.

Does this still exist? [Changed puters twice since then and just forgot about it.]

under 'open GL-
theres this section:

HardwareShaders=1

Shadows=2
Specular=2
SpecularLight=2
DiffuseLight=2
DynamicalLights=1
MeshDetail=2
VisibilityDistance=3

I believe you can change this all the way up to 14...

now- this may or may not be what your looking for-- but its the only thing I know of that allows you to see further.

Thanx, Boss. I'll try this. But I was referring to a line that was put into the config. Might have been an XP thingy.

EDIT: Turns out I already had those very settings.

What I'm referring to is an adjustment that allows you to see BETTER, but not necessarily further.

The setting I'm talking about lets you 'see' a grass landing field that you can't see without the adjustment.

Think I know what your talking about. Think it's whatever detail level the ini goes to when you change from excellent to perfect. Just can't remember the exact switch that you change. I could be reversed on that but it makes the strip grass a slightly different color than the surrounding grass.

Check out VideoSetupID=... different numbers depending on video card....

17= ATI cards
3 = NVIDIA

VideoSetupId=17
Water=2
Effects=2
ForceShaders1x=0

PolygonOffsetFactor=0.15
PolygonOffsetUnits=3.0 are correct values for both ATI and NVIDIA cards
