WWCraven
Duck and Geezer, have either of you tried this COOP Generator built by SYN_Vander? I just downloaded it and will give it a go, looks very interesting. Quote Hi everyone, I have been working on a mission generator for our server that can easily create multiple missions from a basic template, see the thread: Syndicate expert server My next challenge was to turn these python scripts in something that others can use as well. So I have been working on a little graphical user interface to change some basic settings, see below. I think some of our veteran virtual pilots will recognize this particular format . Please help me test and provide some feedback if you find this useful. I would like to keep working on this project, who knows it could become a simplified Mission Creation tool one day. WWCraven
The latest version is now up, haven't had a chance to try it out but will shortly. Here's the highlights, for those who want to do single missions give this a try!! Use the link in OP to get the download. Quote And yes, another version! Version 9 release notes: -Added option to create single player missions -Fixed bug: Red flight would not cover Blue flight when doing ground attack mission -Changed default mission name to "SYN_Generated" (same for both single & coop) -Added 'no_mission' parameter in config.ini that automatically deletes .mission files after generation (for dserver) -Tuned form-up timer over airfield to avoid AI turning back too soon and crash in a hill -Renamed to 'Easy Mission Generator' -Changed artwork See first post for download link. I will now try to focus on some qualitative changes like better waypoint generation, descriptions, random events etc. instead of more features. WWGeezer
This is pretty freakin amazing. I generated a mission and than reloaded it in the missionbuilder. All the flights and airfields are very organized, so it would not be difficult to modify a missions after you had it as well. How he figured out how to do this is a wonder.
WWCraven
So now there is some additional material to manipulate for our missions then?
WWGeezer
Yup yup. Will have to experiment on what the limitations are and what We would change
WWSittingduck
Am not sure what Syn has planned for the utility, but if you look at the template directory, there are 2 default missions in there. I think everything we are going to get from this is going to based on these two missions, meaning they will be all different but the same. If someone wants to work on COOP missions, might suggest taking a look at PWCG. It will now create COOP's, and has a greater latitude in setting the map/map location and objectives. I have a relatively decent handle on advance configuration settings, but they are based on what I want out of a dogfight mission, not a coop, but believe most of the settings that gave me fits are in the coop side of the generator as well. Might suggest working with pwcg 5.0 vs pwcg 5.1. 5.1 is giving me fits.... 3.0 sucked......forget even trying to use it.
WWGeezer
If I know Vander, he's not done yet. Would guess he will build more template missions to use his new tool. You can see how this is an evolution of the COOP campaign he built. The mission's can have one side or both sides. There are always some AI in them. Always Blue and Red Flight. If you set both sides to have different missions they might never run into each othe....but if you made one side a patrol and the other a bombing mission (see below) you would have a good chance of running into each other. I think the trick is to play within the boundries of what this was intended to do. If we were going to do this would suggest 1. We use it as a scrimmage / practice 2. 8- 10 people fly German with a bombing mission / Gold and Blue Flight......8-10 people fly Russian with a Patrol objective / Red and White 3. We could run two missions, one with German Offensive, Russian Defensive, one with Russian Offensive, German Defensive I know we don't like to fly against each other, but a 9 person escort is not particularly good either. These missions are not built well for 16 people on one side. Flying both sides gets us into normal 4 person flights with a specific objective, both live and AI pilots. WWGeezer
Well, I got into this a little deeper and ran thru the three scenarios Patrol, Escort Bombers and Ground Attack and changed the selections from Near to Far and changed the targets. The missions are similar but different waypoints, different airfields, different targets. In reality there are 18 variations for the single map, so that means there are 36 if you count both maps and you can select different plane sets. Considering it pops up a COOP with almost no effort, lots of mission goodness.
WWCraven
Have you changed the plane sets from the default? In the generator Vander only has historical planes for the map and timeframe, some of the sets he has in place are collector planes like the Spit Vb which not everyone has. I checked back to the thread at GB I find that Vander has a new version out, v10. Quote Version 10 release notes: -Added Moscow map and associated plane set -Added option to change the name of the mission -Adjusted Stalingrad plane set -Fixed bug: One of the airfield targets would not trigger success message -Changed waypoints near Gelendzhik airfield to avoid hill collision (have to test) On another note, DD_Arthur has made a replacement conf.ini with all plane sets however it's for v8 so if one wanted to add planes for the Moscow map you'd have to do it manually. Anyway here's the link so you can see how it's built. https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=62078
WWSittingduck
Wow, nice work you two. So some mission config's increase the chance opposing flights will intercept....nice find. Craven, they made DD take down that file......I will look at mine, but believe I already tried it, and it did not work for me. ok, now remember. When I tried it, I was finding the generator does not "read" the config file to make the mission, but rather "creates" the config file after it takes into consideration all the settings a user makes in the generator window. So any changes I made to the config file got overwritten when I tried to generate a mission.... Edited April 1, 2019 by WWSittingduck
WWSittingduck
ok, lesson learned, no more posting before I drink my coffee.. deleted my earlier post. (not much about it was accurate) Edited April 1, 2019 by WWSittingduck
WWSittingduck
This is actually a pretty neat utility for pilots who might just want to make a quick mission testing out a plane. Am not sure what happens if you try to make a mission using a plane you do not own. The attached ini file gives you just about all the planes to fly and/or fly against. I got quite a few errors (can not generate mission) trying to use the 109k4, and 109g14 in Moscow and Stalingrad, but eventually it generated a mission. No idea why I got the errors I did. http://bhah.homeip.net:192/inbox/config (1).ini Edited April 2, 2019 by WWSittingduck
WWGeezer
For the COOP it is not that big a deal to change plane sets after the mission is created. Vandy’s folder structure is very organized.
WWCraven
New version released, I changed the thread title to reflect the name change of the mission generator. Quote New version, 11 is out. Only minor changes. See first page for download link. Version 11 release notes: -Changed name to IL2 Great Battles Easy Mission Creator -> The actual executable is called "EasyMissionGenerator.exe". Please delete old .exe -White skins will be chosen on all planes during winter -Added extra option for airfield selection, in between "close to" and "far behind" the lines -Added Yak 1b to Stalingrad plane set

WWCraven
The change mission name button is a nice add on, now you don't have to go into the mission editor to rename the mission you generated, no more overwrite
WWCraven
New version release; Quote Download the utility here: https://sites.google.com/site/therealsyndicatesquadron/clients/resources/IL2CoopGenerator_v12.zip Version 12 release notes: -Each section can now be minimized by clicking on the icon on the left. This to make the utility usable for smaller resolution screens. -Fixed minor bugs
WWSittingduck
Have shortcuts on the server for "quick" missions Syn_coop Default is the vanilla install, only planes available to fly are what he give us Syn_Coop Modified has just about all the planes added to fly in. There is a COOP Generator.sds all set up that will run missions named Syn_Generated1, 2, 3 or 4 [rotation] random = false file = "Cooperative\\SYN_Generated1" file = "Cooperative\\SYN_Generated2" file = "cooperative\\SYN_Generated3" file = "cooperative\\SYN_Generated4" Keep in mind, if someone comes along and makes a mission with the same file id, it will overwrite yours.
