York Minster WW2 Airman Memorial

Recommended Posts

In one of the side chapels at York Minster they have this very cool memorial for all airman who died during WW2.  The monument has a hand written journal with every name of every airman who died ( over 50,000).

At the same location the have a “ five sisters” memorial for women who died during the war with the names written on panels behind little doors

The Brits take their war dead very seriously, what strikes me is the calligraphy in the book, such exquisite attention to detail.

Thanks for sharing Geezer!
