Saving the Dinosaur - CD Drive

So my new rig does not have a CD Drive in it.  These have become somewhat obsolete, but some of my key applications ( like Lightroom & Quicken ) where still on CD.  Also some family archive stuff is on CD.  So very occasional use, but still needed.  I started looking at buying a cheap external drive and they run about $25 and they are cheap.  Pretty much 1/4" thick laptop CD drives in boxes.  It was bugging me because I have a perfectly good full size blue ray DVD burner in my old machine.

Found many vendors that sold cases for salvaging laptop CD drives but nothing for full size drives.

Than I ran into a product by WEme that is an adapter that plugs into the back of the CD drive with a dual plug that provides sata power and sata data connection and converts it to a 3.0 USB cable.  Comes with a convenience power outlet.  Very cool product.  Plugged everything in, spun right up and Lightroom short cut is on my desk top now.

Saved the dinosour!
