Geezer...

What scares me is my prescription has changed 3 times in the last 18 months.  Not huge changes, but the next pair of glasses has always been better than the last.

I usually pay about 38 bucks for 2 pairs of glasses (eyebuydirect.com)  Needless to say, I get the cheapest rims.  Think what I am going to do is take the pair I took the temples off, get some 1/4 tubing, slice it down the length, and wrap tubing around the rims of each eye.  Think the tubing would be thick enough to stop the eyeglass lenses from touching the oculus lenses.

Another thought is these protective covers.  Instead of putting them on the oculus, put them on the eyeglasses.

Not sure.  Depends on how curved the lenses are.  The VR fresnel lenses are a bit curved too, I think.  You sure don't want to take a chance of scratching those. The VR ability of that lens fails at that point where it's scratched and will therefore produce and artifact in your field of vision.
