WWFawlty Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 For those looking for extra framerate in games. Plague and I have been using Lossless Scaling for frame generation in Arma 3 and we are both impressed with the results. https://store.steampowered.com/app/993090/Lossless_Scaling/ If you don't have a state of the art system or even don't like hearing the gpu fans spooling up this is a recommended piece of software. It can be used with any simulator or game and is really easy to set up. I went from averaging in the 50fps to a steady 100 in A3 while hosting. I could go higher, but 100 works for me. Arma 3 is a pretty old piece of software that will never get dlss frame generation but this does exactly what I need. I'm sure it will work perfect with IL2 Hope it can be of use to someone 1
WWCephas Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 I gave it a try upscaling 1600x900 to 1980x1080 and went from 80 to 120 FPS (80 fps at native 1980). It does work well but you can tell the loss of resolution for sure. It is a very slick program in the way it does it on the fly and you can quickly test all the different modes without restarting. As a side benefit since it requires being in windowed mode (although it looks full screen when running) when you alt tab like I frequently do, it is way easier to access the desktop.
WWGeezer Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 hmmm....I wonder what it would do for VR ?
WWFawlty Posted September 19, 2024 Author Posted September 19, 2024 From what I've read no Geezer. I only use it for frame gen not scaling. To use it you fire up the game/sim in windowed mode then hotkey the app (ctrl/alt/s) you then have full screen, doubling what you set your capped frame rate at (usually half your monitors refresh rate) My monitor is 165 so I set it at 82 to avoid tearing. Depending on the game my frame rate counter reads 164fps.
